Recovery Support Study

Purpose:

This study is about recovery from opioid use disorder (OUD). It focuses on people who currently take medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD). Taking MOUD is the gold standard method for treating opioid use disorder. Community resources also exist to further help support people with OUD. One of these community resources are recovery community centers (RCCs). RCCs are brick-and-mortar places open to the community. They provide guidance, information, support, and a social community for people in recovery. The guiding principle of RCCs is that “all pathways are welcome.”

Our team has worked with many RCCs across the country. We are now conducting a study to see if we can connect people taking MOUDs with their local RCC. This is a preparatory study. The results of this study will help us design a larger study to test the effectiveness of linkage to RCCs.

This study is a randomized study. That means that participants will be assigned at random to one of two different groups. One group will be asked to visit their local recovery community center (RCC). The other group will be asked to complete a different activity to support their recovery.
